Early Life and Background 

Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba grew up in Soweto, Johannesburg, under the care of his single mother alongside his three siblings. He was born on January 21, 1988. His childhood was not a bed of roses; he faced a lot of hardships including being moved to live with his grandmother in the Eastern Cape.

With an a cappella approach and distinctive sound, Soweto born Samthing Soweto started his journey as a musical artist in the streets of Soweto. However, he became popular in the musical circle as a member of The Soil – an acapella group inspired by his love for making music using just voice.
