Early Life and Background 

Samuel Chukwueze was born on May 22, 1999, in Amaokwe Ugba Ibeku, Abia State, Nigeria. Raised in a Christian family with a younger brother and sister, he is of Igbo descent. He attended Government College Umuahia and Evangel Secondary School.

Chukwueze began playing football at eight, idolizing Jay-Jay Okocha and Arjen Robben. His passion for football led him to join the Diamond Football Academy, which set the foundation for his professional career.

Club Career 

Samuel Chukwueze began his professional journey with Villarreal CF in 2017, joining from Diamond Football Academy. Initially placed in the Juvenil A team, he made his senior debut for the reserves on April 15, 2018, coming on as a substitute in a 1–1 draw against CE Sabadell FC in the Segunda División B. 

His first goal came on May 20, 2018, in a 3–2 defeat to Bilbao Athletic, contributing two goals in 11 appearances that season. Chukwueze made his first-team debut on September 20, 2018, replacing Nicola Sansone in a 2–2 UEFA Europa League draw against Rangers. 

He also featured in La Liga, making his debut on November 5, 2018, in a 1–1 draw against Levante. The next year, he was. honored with the Nigeria Football Federation’s 2018 Young Player of the Year award, further solidify his achievements as a prominent player.  

On April 12, 2022, Chukwueze scored a crucial equalizer against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, securing Villarreal’s place in the semi-finals. On April 8, 2023, he scored twice and provided an assist in a 3–2 victory over Real Madrid.

International Career 

Samuel Chukwueze’s rise in international football began when he represented Nigeria at the under-17 level. His first call-up to the senior national team came in October 2018, marking a significant step in his career. 

He made his debut for the Super Eagles on November 20, 2018, starting in a friendly match that ended in a 0–0 draw against Uganda. In 2019, Chukwueze was selected for both the Africa Cup of Nations and the Under-20 World Cup. 

Due to club commitments with Villarreal, he chose to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he scored his first senior goal in a 2–1 victory over South Africa during the quarter-finals.
